Cookie Policy
Last updated 1 August 2026 · Effective 1 August 2026
This page lists everything this website stores on your device or loads from a third party, what each item is for, and how to change your mind at any time.
1. The short version
This website uses one piece of first-party storage that is strictly necessary: a record of the cookie choice you make. Nothing else is stored, and no analytics or third-party content is loaded, until you tell us it is allowed.
We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, social media trackers, or cross-site profiling of any kind.
2. Categories you can control
| Category | Default | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Always on | Remembering your cookie choice, and keeping the site working and secure. This cannot be switched off, because without it we would have to ask you on every page. |
| Analytics | Off | Google Analytics, so we can see which pages are useful. IP addresses are shortened. Never linked to any medical record. |
| Embedded media | Off | Google Maps (directions) and YouTube (eye-care videos). Blocked behind a placeholder until you allow them. |
3. What is actually stored
First-party — set by this website
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
sc_consent | Local storage | Records which categories you accepted, and when. Without it we could not honour your choice. | 12 months | Strictly necessary |
This is browser local storage, not a cookie: it stays on your device and is never transmitted to our server.
Third-party — only after you allow the relevant category
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Typical expiry | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another so visits can be counted | Up to 2 years | Analytics |
NID, SOCS and similar | Google Maps | Map preferences and Google security | Up to 6 months | Embedded media |
VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC and similar | YouTube | Playback preferences and abuse prevention | Session to 6 months | Embedded media |
Third-party names and lifetimes are set by those companies and can change without notice. The authoritative list is in their own policies, linked below.
4. Third parties we load
- Google Analytics — only with Analytics consent. Google Privacy Policy
- Google Maps — only with Embedded media consent. Until then you see a placeholder with a link to open the map on Google’s own site instead.
- YouTube — only with Embedded media consent. We use the privacy-enhanced
youtube-nocookie.comdomain, which does not store playback data for visitors who do not watch. - Google Calendar Appointment Scheduling — loads only when you click “Book Appointment”, which opens Google’s own booking page in a new tab.
- Google Fonts — the typefaces used on this site are requested from Google’s font servers, which receive your IP address. They do not set cookies. We are working towards serving these from our own domain to remove that request entirely.
- Our hosting provider — keeps standard server request logs for security.
5. Changing or withdrawing your choice
You can change your mind at any time, and it takes exactly as few clicks as accepting did:
- Use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any page, or the button below.
- Turn any category off and save. Analytics stops immediately, and embedded content returns to a blocked placeholder on the next page load.
Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that already, lawfully, took place before you withdrew.
We ask again after 12 months, and straight away if we change what we use.
6. Controlling this in your browser
Independently of the choice you make here, your browser can block or clear cookies and site data. Look for “Privacy”, “Cookies and site data”, or “Clear browsing data” in your browser’s settings. Clearing site data for this website will also erase your saved cookie choice, so we will ask you again on your next visit.
Blocking all storage may stop parts of the site from working as intended, but you will still be able to read every page, find our address and phone number, and contact the clinic.
7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Browsers send these signals inconsistently and there is no settled standard for how a site should respond, so we do not rely on them. We rely on the explicit choice you make here, which is unambiguous and which you can change at any time.
8. Changes
If we add or remove anything that stores data on your device, we will update this page and ask for your consent again rather than carry over a choice you made about something else.
